I just purchased the VIVOSUN 72 site Hydroponic Grow Kit from Amazon. It comes with a water pump, pump timer, nest baskets, and sponge to grow your vegetables. This system falls under the NFT design (Nutrient Film Technique), you can read more about it here. I’m not a big fan of NFT systems, only because if you lose power, there is a chance that the roots will dry out. Professional NFT systems are usually made from long narrow shallow square-shaped PVC channels.
Water Flow
There is usually a thin film of water constantly flowing through the channel, if the power is out too long then the roots can dry out. The VIVOSUN 72 site Hydroponic Grow Kit is made from round PVC which is design to have a small water reservoir in each channel. So far this kit looks promising, there are a few issues that need to be overcome. I plan on integrating this into the aquaponic system that I just set up.
